I'm Gonna Miss My Birds

My time in school district 67 can be related to the sapling I brought home in third grade. I brought this sapling home, and it was busting with potential ready and waiting to grow. Just as I was busting with potential on the first day of kindergarten, just like all the other kids around me. With so many exceptionally wonderful teachers at Hynes my peers and I had no trouble exceeding and learning so many things, life and school related on my journey through Hynes. I'd like to take a moment to thank all of the wonderful staff at Hynes who helped me to become the person I am today by teaching me so many valuable things. I watered the tree everyday and made sure it was taken care of just like I went to school and learned every day and was always taken care of. The teachers at Hynes did a great job taking care of preparing me for Golf.

Golf is like a young sapling, already rooted at the base but growing more and more everyday. When I entered Golf my base already had a large group of friends and I already knew the basics of what they were teaching this made my transition of schools a breeze. The tree kept growing all throughout middle school adding branches and some dying. Because friendships were built on but some stopped. I was not on this journey alone in golf though nor was anyone else. We all helped each other, the bird feeding off the tree for protection and sticks to make their home which were all my classmates. I'm just a sapling and my time at golf district 67 began and ended in a flash. We might all be leaving and spreading our wings on the journey to high school, but I know we will all fly North and meet again one day.

Summer Plans

With summer almost here there's so many things to do and it seems like I don't have time for anything. Once summer is here however I'll have much more time and I can relax and do many more things. So, some of the things I want to do this summer are…

  1. Go to camp
  2. Go swimming
  3. Go on a picnic
  4. Go bike riding
  5. Play some sports
  6. Get back into shape
  7. Watch some movies
  8. Go on a photo shoot
  9. Hang out with friends
  10. Cook something delicious

Endings and Beginnings

I do believe in endings and beginnings, but I do not believe that they can be chosen for us. Everything happens for a reason. It's not what happens that matters it's what you do about it that does.

Soon we are going to high school and most of us will be separated. But some will not, because if we have that strong of a bond with our friends we will not loose each other. Just like we can come visit our teachers back at middle school.

If you want something you'll work for it you won't stop just because someone decided on this date your life is going to change because you will no longer be going to the same school. I feel like school is too controlling, and I don't like being controlled. You get to control your story an you get to control your life.

So with this being said, chose your beginnings and ends. Because, in the end you only have yourself, and you have to make yourself happy.

C for Confirmation and Complicated

With so many things changing in my life right now there are a lot of things that are complicated. Right now something extremely prevalent is becoming an adult in the Catholic church through the sacrament of confirmation. This is complicated because I want to get confirmed but don't at the same time for multiple reasons.

I do not want to get confirmed in the Catholic church because they go against their leader. For example Jesus would hang out with the prostitutes and gay people of his day, but for many years these people were outcasts in the church.

But, things are changing because we have a new Pope and he is really getting the message that our leader was trying to give to people, which is to love unconditionally and follow the ten commandments. Which means these outcasts are now allowed in the church.

Another HUGE issue I have with getting confirmed is that I can't come into the church as myself, I have to pick a saint to be called by. No one in my church actually calls people by their confirmation name, but the problem is that I can't just be accepted for who I am and the thing that bugs me the most is that I know Jesus wouldn't have approved of this.

But at the same time I want to get confirmed because I believe in Jesus I just don't believe in some of the teachings the Catholic church has.

So as you can tell I am all over the place with this issue and it is quite complicated. If you were wondering I am planning to get confirmed next Sunnday under the name of Saint Teresa of Calutta.

...oh the places you'll go

Recently I have read "All The Bright Places" and was inspired by the two main characters who went new places together in their home state that they haven't been to before. So, I thought I'd give my viewers a list of where I'd like to wander in the "Land of Lincoln" (when I have a car).

1.Shawnee National Forest
2.Galena
3.Tunnel Hill State Trail
4.Paul Bunyon Statue
5.Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site

Uncle Benny

While writing this, I am sitting in my room surrounded by the warmth of many blankets and the memories of a great man who has passed on from this life. I keep on trying to describe my Uncle Benny, but I am having such a hard time. The problem I'm running into is that no words can describe someone with such a lively spirit, a man with a quite knowledgeable and experienced mind and body. He had more compassion than you ever thought possible, when you looked into his eyes you could look for miles because the stories waiting to be told never ended.

So many fun times were had with him. One of my favorites was when he taught me a song (the song with be included at the bottom if you are interested) and then I sang it at preschool the next day and got in trouble. He would always have me sing this song at all of the family gatherings. Also at these gatherings , my cousins and I would sit on the floor and listen to his stories as we were mesmerized by the details he gave and wondered how the experiences he was describing were possible.

I miss my Uncle but am glad that he has passed on because it was his time, and he was ready. I hope that I can be like him. In "The Fault in our Stars" Hazel Grace say something along the lines of Augustus kept his humor till the end even though Augustus didn't. This line could fit my Uncle because even through the pain he could still chuckle about life.

Hi ho
Hi ho
It's off to school we go
To learn some junk and then we flunk
Hi ho
Hi ho
My teacher is a shmoo
She's round and fat like a baseball bat
Hi ho
Hi ho hi ho hi ho

Days Well Spent

If I could spend the day with anyone it would be with people who have left my life or that are already in my life. I do not long to meet famous people, because they're famous for what they've done and not their personality. I like who I have in my life and do not want to change what I already have.

I would spend one day with two of the people and spend another day with someone else. I would like to spend the first day with my late great uncle Benny and my great aunt Jean. I'd like to spend the day with my uncle Benny because he said one day he would sit me down and talk to me about all of his experiences before he died, but he never had the chance to. I'd like to include my aunt Jean in this adventure because I'd like to give her the chance to see him just one more time. This is why I'd like to spend the day with them. We would enjoy our time together making pizza, and talking. I'd really enjoy this day.

I'd like to spend the other day with my grandma Micky. That's not actually her name, but everyone called her Micky. I am named after her and am told that I look just like her. I'd like to meet her because I never got to because she died before I was born. I long for a chance to meet her because my dad always tells me stories from his childhood and she seems like such a nice person. I think this would be a day well spent. We could walk to the park or just stay home and talk. This would be a great opportunity for us to have together.

When people pass they are no longer here with us to spend time with. There is a quote that goes, "It's not that you didn't know what you had, it's you just never thought you'd lose it." I am saddened that I didn't have more time with these wonderful people. These days are really a dream, and when I go to heaven they'll be a reality.

Again?

What's the fun in going somewhere you have already been or have no interest in going? Why would you spend your time somewhere you don't want to be? I know personally from my experience sometimes my school will have field trips to places I have already been or don't want to go to.

Field trips are a fun activity and a great thing to look forward to most of the time, but I do not like field trips to places I have already been because I get bored. For example, I remember in sixth grade when we went to Medieval Times. I was very bored with the show because I'd already seen it. I understand you can't conform to everyone but I do wish that kids could have the option of another activity instead of being forced to do the same thing again(I understand that you could not turn in the permission slip but with some parents that is not an option). I understand that some people enjoy things over and over again and I do too but things that I get  bored with I do not enjoy over and over again. This is why I think this should be an option.

I believe that if children had the choice in which activity they would like to do more the students would be happier. And not just happier but I know they would also behave better. This is what I hope will be able to change in the future.

You Jump, I Jump, Remember?

Kick your feet back, you're in for the best three hour movie of your life. From Jack saving Rose to fine dining. The betrayal and finding out who you love. Figuring out money isn't as great as love. Titanic keeps you on your feet as this love story unfolds. It's well written lines will run through your head for hours while you sit pondering if the theory that Jack isn't real is true.

This classic depicts the story of the Titanic the "Unsinkable" ship. The historic tale of this ship is fused with the love story of Rose and Jack. This movie is about more than just survival it's about what makes you want to survive, the love you can have for someone and what this will do to you.

This work of art will forever be a classic as well as a tribute to those who perished in this journey across the sea. Now stop reading this, go watch it!

Can't Help Loving Country

Below are some of my top song picks. I really enjoy listening to these songs and hope that if you decide to listen to them you will enjoy them as well. Each song title is listed first, then the artist. Below that in the next line is the album cover. After is my favorite line/stanza from the song, along with a short explanation as to why I like this line, or what I interpret this line to mean. I hope you enjoy!

Colder Weather - Zac Brown Band
Image result for Pass the jar
"When I close my eyes I see you
No matter where I am"
I think this line is special, because it reminds us that even though someone can't always be with us or they're gone for good (Rest in peace) we can always remember them in our mind.

H.O.L.Y. - Florida Georgia Line
Image result for dig your roots
"I don't need the stars 'cause you shine for me
Like fire in my veins, you're my ecstasy"
The song title H.O.L.Y. stands for high on loving you. This line is saying that he doesn't need anything but who he wrote the song for because he already gets his happiness from them. This could be interpreted a different way, but this is the way I take it.

I Don't Dance - Lee Brice
Image result for I don't dance album
"'Cause you took these two left feet
And waltzed away with my heart"
I really like these two lines in the way it's so ironic. People who can't dance are commonly referred to as having two left feet. I find this extremely ironic because then the song goes on to say that someone waltzed away with his heart. This is my favorite line, because of how it's so ironic.

I Wanna Love You Like That - Canaan Smith
Image result for Canaan Smith Bronco
"I could never do it like a pretty city boy
I'm more a fishin' in the dark nitty gritty boy"
I believe these two lines have a strong message of being true to your roots, and who your are. These two lines he's saying that he can't love the other person like someone else could, and he goes on to say what he can do instead.

Loving You Easy - Zac Brown Band
Image result for Zac Brown Band Jekyll + Hyde
"Every little smile, every single touch
Reminds me just how much it all makes
Loving you easy"
This song is so sweet. He is writing about how easy it is to love his partner, because he's so in love. I love how strong his love is. These lines are him saying that a smile can remind him of how easy it is to love. I think this is a very important message.

President

Dear President Trump,

Congratulations on winning the election President Trump. Now that you are in such a large role things are going to change. There are going to be many new rules that your not used to. You have already accomplished many things during the "Lame Duck Period" and I have heard that you plan to do more. I would advise you however to not make so many changes so quickly. Change scares some people, and some of the changes your making people do not approve of. I would just like to advise you to be careful with what your changing. Things were done for a reason and should not be changed in seconds. This is what I caution you on. Good luck with the rest of your presidency.

Sincerely,
American citizen

Surrounding me in wonderful smelling warmth

Something I really desire to have is a large fuzzy hoodie. I don't want any ordinary hoodie, I desire a special one.

My dream hoodie is a size large or extra large, super fuzzy, nice smelling, and warm. I am not very particular on things such as color or what this sweater would say on it, but it defiantly has to smell good.

This is my dream gift. I would love this for multiple reasons. First off who doesn't love fuzzy things? Also there's this thing I have where I really enjoy sniffing things that smells good, and this hoodie smells good (as stated above). The third and final reason (because I could go on all day) is that I LOVE HOODIES!!!
